A Definition of Terms

Athame
- Ritual tool (like a knife) used in ceremonies. An athame may never draw blood. If the user accidentally cuts one's self it is no longer usable for magic work.Beltane
- One the two biggest holidays in Wicca (opposite Samhain). The high holiday of Summer marking the change into the 2nd half of the year. Occurs May 1st.Book Of Shadows

- Term referring to the period of time during the growth the Catholic Church when people were burned and tortured for allegedly practicing Witchcraft.C.E.
- Common Era. Used as a non-religious mark for the date. Similarly, B.C.E stands for before common era.Circle

Dianic
- Most common form of Goddess based Wiccan worship. Diana, the Goddess, is the emphasized deity.Divination

- Term for spellwork. The 'K' is added to note its difference from stage 'magic'.Midsummer
- Summer Solstice (June 20th). Holiday celebrating the turn from a progressive Summer to the downward turn toward Winter.Neo-Pagan

- 5-pointed star within a circle. The symbol on a surface would be known as a pentagram. Most wiccans display theirs with one point up or one point to the North if on the ground. Some groups use a two point up pentacle for degrees of training within a group. A pentacle is a holy symbol. No Wiccan would EVER spray paint one on a wall or building as an act of vandalism.
